Hello there! I’m Kirsten and I’m the creator of The Lazy Tortoise Bakery (named after my very lazy tortoise, Thelma).

I started out just making cakes here and there for birthday parties and holidays, then decorated cookies for Christmas and sent them to my friends and their families across the United States. My friends and family have been the ones to really push me to start my own business. It has always been a wonderful hobby for me, and I love being in the kitchen trying out new techniques and new recipes.

My goal has always been to create the best looking, but also best tasting cakes. Sometimes cakes can look amazing, but all that fondant can be a little off-putting. I strive to use little to no fondant (or gum paste) on my cakes. I’ve created tiaras out of chocolate and cookies, and characters out of cookies. I want my cakes to be an enjoyable experience without having to peel off all the outside bits. My cakes and cookies are always baked fresh and are never frozen.
